The Department of Public Health Engineering is an important agency under the Department of Local Government. The Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) was established in the 1936th year, with the responsibility of promoting public health through the safe water supply. Subsequently, the responsibility of providing sanitation services was added to it. After the disappearance of Bangladesh’s independence in the 1971st, the government first emphasized the importance of rehabilitating the destroyed water supply and sanitation systems and subsequently started setting up new infrastructure through the DPHE.
Under the same continuity, the department is responsible for the construction and management of the safe water supply and sanitation system of the entire country except for the area under WASA (Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chittagong, Khulna). Safe water and sanitation play an important role in protecting public health. The Department of Public Health Engineering has been working tirelessly to provide safe water sensitization facilities to the people.
